Sasha Pivovarova in Elle HK June 2009

I was surprised when I saw this Elle issue with Sasha on the cover. She looks so stunning! I was at the bookstore today browsing through the hundreds of magazines available and this cover totally grab my attention. Sadly enough, I do not have a lot of time to browse through this mag and I do not have the gut to snap a pic of this cover. Luckily I managed to find this cover and its' contents from Google.

Sasha Pivovarova is indeed a beauty, mesmerizing in her own ways.I like it best when she is looking fierce but her natural beauty shines when she is looking herself most. One more thing I notice is how many ads she was in a single mag. Here she is on the cover and when you flipped behind the cover is her Chanel Paris-Moscow ad, few pages more is her Biotherm ad and then she appears again with Jessica Stam in the Giorgio Armani cosmetic ad. A top model indeed.

Chic girls

A definite yes for DKNY for featuring such a young urban cool kind of cast. All of the girls look so chic in their own way. I prefer this campaign than the last few seasons where they only shot a single girl at NYC (previously with Jessica Stam and Vlada). Looking so ladylike, I, especially like Liu Wen and Diana Farkhullina. Can't wait to see more images...

Karlie Kloss for Pringle of Scotland

Genius choice of model. Really reflect the mood of the clothing here. Karlie made it effortlessly cool and chic here. I like the fact that they made this in black and white because it looks so much more mysterious and that Karlie glare. Cool!

Gucci Pre-Fall 09/10

Anja Rubik looking fabulous in Gucci. My only question is, why use the same outfit? Even if it's for Pre-Fall, I believe there would be other equally attractive outfits as well. Maybe they could use these:

The team at Gucci are getting a little too predictable season after season. I am still keeping my fingers crossed for the upcoming Fall Winter campaign. Rumor has it that it'll be a multi-girls campaign with some of my favorite model - Freja, Raquel and Natasha Poly -reprising their role as the Gucci girl after the trio collabroration for Gucci by Gucci fragrance. I just hope that the ad campaign will be as good as the selection of models.

In the room

New fall ads are starting to come out one by one. Among the earliest is the Givenchy ad. I just noticed some Fall ads that kind-of look alike to me. The setting-models sitting or standing around in a room- that is. Of course, the mood of each ads differ, Givenchy presents a wicked darker ad while Dolce & Gabbanna gives me a feeling that they're continuing where they left off from their Spring campaign with a different cast this time around while maintaining their favorite Maria Carla Boscono. I kept thinking what an odd cast - Edita and Heidi Mount replacing Karlie Kloss and Caroline Trentini- but I must say that this time, it works better. The best Dolce & Gabbana casting for me is when they combine Jessica Stam, Lily Donaldson and Gemma Ward for their SS2008 campaign followed closely by the next Fall 2008 ad. D&G to me is more an "outdoor"ad if you look at their past ad campaigns and it usually involves a lot of models. But for Fall 2009, D&G surprisingly was set in a library like room which showcases all the outfits clearly with the models standing or sitting looking straight into the camera. Funny enough, I thought this look like a family potrait maybe from the Victorian age.

Snejana's comeback

Glad to see Snejana back especially on her own country's Russian Vogue. Snejana has not been active editorial and campaign wise, and only walked a few selected shows. I wonder what happens to her momentum, she used to front every possible covers and campaigns. Models can be the "it girl" today gone tomorrow but I hope this does not happen to her. She is a top model in her own rights and I hope that she will regain her momentum back. Just like Sasha Pivovarova when she was replaced by Linda Evangelista for Prada, everybody wonders what will happen to her but after a little break (from the catwalk) Sasha comes out strong, scoring tons of campaigns and remains the most sought after models today. I just hope that the same thing goes for Snejana Onopka. Maybe she need to lay a low profile, deserving a longer break and come back with a bang!

Emma Watson for Burberry FW2009

She's British, she's famous and she's grown up. Emma Watson was chosen to front the Burberry Fall Winter 2009 campaign. She has sure grown up in front of us since she first appeared in Harry Porter as Hermione Granger. Back then, Emma Watson is a cute young star together with Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint. Just how fast time flies, and now we have Emma Watson as the Burberry girl. I like this campaign because I like Emma Watson but at the same time, I think it resembles Burberry very much. Simple, clean , sophisicated, very British. Saying this, I think the best Burberry ad to date is their Spring Summer 2008 ad with Lily Donaldson and Agyness Deyn. I liked that collection the best too simple because they're so vibrant, chic and I've never seen such color used on clothing since I don't even know when!

Anna Selezneva for Vogue China July 2009

Anna Selezneva adds another Vogue cover to her portfolio, this time featured as the cover girl for Vogue China in the July issue. She has already appeared in Vogue Italia, Paris, Nippon and Russia respectively. This is her fifth Vogue cover.

For the editorial titled "Enchating Hawaii", Anna was potrayed as a soft, sun-kissed beach girl. She even had a 30 page editorial inside some which I posted below. I like this soft appeal of hers, looking so dreamy, relaxing and delicate. The soft tones on this editorial really helps a lot too and true to its' title, this is indeed an enchanting editorial.

(For more, click here, here and here.)

There's also a beauty supplement for this issue featuring Mackenzie Halminton. I just love how soft she looks. Really beautiful and I love Vogue China for using Asian models a lot more than their counterparts.
