Cover Girl

It's very rare to see a model on the cover of Teen Vogue. They usually favor teen celebrities over models. So, to see Karlie on the cover is quite surprising but it is no surprise that Karlie is on top of her game. She is of top model status now- going strong on editorials, runways, covers and of course, nabbing a few campaigns along the way. And, yes, Karlie is still a teenager. The cover itself is fun and young. And, for once, I don't mind the font overload- it goes pretty well with the outfit, Karlie and Teen Vogue.

The New Batch

Kudos to Vogue China again for featuring such a stellar new casts.

Models from Liu Wen to Kiki Kang; Hanne and Patricia van de Vliet; Karlie Kloss and Mirte Maas; Du Juan, Philip Huang and Shu Pei and others are featured in the February issue. Although the cover itself is a pretty one, I would very much prefer Liu Wen to be on the cover. I don't understand how she could be the most sought after Chinese fashion model at this time and yet she's not granted for a Chinese Vogue cover. I don't mean that Shu Pei does not deserve it- she does but I just feel that it is extremely unfair to Liu Wen. At that peak period of Du Juan's modeling time, she has graced so many of Chinese Vogue covers (and still counting). Mirte, on the other hand, looks amazing here. I like the white Gucci dress they wore and the gold font. So pure- like.

Editorials that caught my attention are :

Hanne's Under My Skin

and Karlie's Perfect Sport.

The Dutch and The American

I have just concluded my own Top 10 newcomers list. But, I can't help myself from thinking that this season, we have seen a lot more models from the Netherlands and America. That leads me to my personal favourite from this two countries- Nimue Smit and Karlie Kloss.
Karlie exploded onto the scene after being Calvin Klein exclusive and since then had graced numerous campaigns, covers and editorials. US Vogue couldn't agree better, they had been featuring Karlie in every single editorial lately. For the record, Karlie had 3 different editorials in the November issue of US Vogue. Nimue, on the other hand, had this cutesy look, very girlish and fairytale-like. But that hadn't stop her from being featured regularly for Italian Vogue. She was double exclusive for Prada and Miu Miu for Spring 2009 and was booked for the same season campaign for Prada.
Both girls are only 17 this year. Karlie started during the Spring Summer 2008 season while Nimue on 2009. Both girls are on the rise now and there's no stopping them. They just keep getting better!

The Four Capitals

In the upcoming August issue of Vogue UK, Patrick Demarchelier captures Lily Donaldson, Karlie Kloss, Freja, Sasha Pivovarova and Anna Jagodzinska in shoots after the four capital cities of fashion- London, New York, Milan and Paris. Personally, I like Milan the best simply because it features two of my favorite models- Freja and Sasha. Theme wise, Paris is the better editorial because it's not shot in the studio and is far better than the New York editorial. Sasha is also the cover girl for this issue. I wonder when they will put Karlie or Freja on the cover?

Karlie Kloss for Pringle of Scotland

Genius choice of model. Really reflect the mood of the clothing here. Karlie made it effortlessly cool and chic here. I like the fact that they made this in black and white because it looks so much more mysterious and that Karlie glare. Cool!

Vogue US : Pieced Together

Interesting to see the combination of Chanel Iman, Caroline Trentini, Lily Donaldson, Karlie Kloss and Anna Jagodzinska in a studio shoot. Usually there will only be two or three models involved.

W: 100% Fashion

It's claim: 100% fashion. It's rumored to feature dozens of models. But other than these two group shots and a few others, I can clearly notice that this editorial is mainly focused on Karlie Kloss and Sigrid Argen.

Both of them certainly compliment each other. They look good together and kind of resemble each other. Karlie could be edgier and Sigrid on the softer part.

Then it shift to just focus on Sigrid..

or plain Karlie...

However, there's another dynamic duo spotted, Dorothea and Nimue (I kinda like this pairing.)

I love most of the shots featured- most of which I posted here- but I think they should give more exposure to the other girls. I am sure they did equally well but because there's a strain of only publishing a certain number of shots does not mean that all of them have to end up being nothing. I guess this is a harsh fashion world, anyways.
