Gucci-nism

The horrendous Gucci campaign which I loved more and more day by day seeing only Freja and Anja rocking it in every shot they were in. I don't get Raquel's poses which I thought were funnier than fierce but Raquel being her always pulled out the most outstanding poses. I have to say that she is the only one who's not afraid of doing something different though most of us (me included) do not know how to appreciate it. Natasha did fierce in all of her shots which did not fail her but seeing it in all 8 shots makes it a little boring. Abbey, Myf, Jacquetta, Dree and Jamie are more like sidekicks here. Poor Myf, she have to stand in the background doing the same poses. If I have not noticed, I would have thought she was just cut and paste into the background. Jamie does not fit into this campaign at all- she is lost in almost all of her pics. Jacquetta has the worst outfit and hairstyle. She looks like she belongs to the guys more than the girls. Abbey and Dree- where do I start? First of all, they're more like cameos in this ad, appearing in a shot and then disappeared and appear in another shot. Their presence is forgettable. To sum it all, a rather disappointing campaign given that the cast most of the top models. Gucci could have done much better and please, why don't they change the models' outfits. It's the same as in Pre-Fall where the same outfits were used in all of their ads. Please change this formula. Is it really working, I wonder.

Jones New York FW 09/10

This ad could have simply been mistaken for another Vogue US editorial. I like how they match Anja, Caroline, Liya and Isabeli into one campaign. This is very simple jump and pose but somehow I still find it appealing maybe because there's nothing to hate about this campaign. The models are good, the poses are not over the top and most of all- they showcases their clothes!

The girls are back

Apart from US Vogue favoring celebrities on its' cover, other Vogues has always featured models. This month (for the July/August issues) is no different either but the casting is a little surprising for me.

First is Vogue Italia with Kristen McMenamy on the cover. This is truly one of the best Vogue Italia cover. Kristen McMenamy truly shines this cover with her supermodel aura.

Anja Rubik used to be the model that is established but only appears on editorials, campaigns and walks down the runway every now and then. After being with this business for a few years, she only got her first Vogue cover for the Germany version on July last year. Then, Anja appeared as the cover girl for Vogue Korea, followed by Vogue Paris for the June/July issue and now she's on Vogue Nippon for the August issue. What's next? Vogue Italia?

Caroline Trentini walks exclusively for Yves Saint Laurent last season and then dissappeared to have her long deserved break. Since then. she's been laying low only to appear on US Vogue's models of the moment issue. It is around the right time that Vogue Brazil feature one of its' country brightest model on their own cover.

On another note, newcomer Kelsey van Mook went to Australia for its' fashion week and nabbed the cover at once. I actually like this cover despite it being plain. As you can see from this post, I favor white background photoshoots. It makes the models stand out than just let them drown into the background. Back to Kelsey, her biggest break is opening Givenchy last season. Could she be the top runway newcomer next season? I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Gucci Pre-Fall 09/10

Anja Rubik looking fabulous in Gucci. My only question is, why use the same outfit? Even if it's for Pre-Fall, I believe there would be other equally attractive outfits as well. Maybe they could use these:

The team at Gucci are getting a little too predictable season after season. I am still keeping my fingers crossed for the upcoming Fall Winter campaign. Rumor has it that it'll be a multi-girls campaign with some of my favorite model - Freja, Raquel and Natasha Poly -reprising their role as the Gucci girl after the trio collabroration for Gucci by Gucci fragrance. I just hope that the ad campaign will be as good as the selection of models.

Anja Rubik ~ Snip//snip

Before- with long hair- how sweet

Now-after she chopped off her hair- chic and cool

Anja Rubik proves that with just a haircut- it can change a person- at least how they look like.
